1 year anniversary for blog!

Well, I just realized after posting that today is the 1st anniversary for Nana's Scrap Patch blog!  So to celebrate here is a long time favorite family recipe...

SORGHUM CORN

3/4 cup Sorghum
3/4 cup ganulated sugar
1 Tbs butter (use real butter)
1/2 tsp baking soda
8 quarts popped corn

Cook sorghum and sugar over low heat until it begins to softly boil.  While this is cooking pop 8 quarts of popcorn, I use and air popper, but also tried using microwave popcorn and it worked fine, took several bags. Remove the sorghum mixture from the heat and add the butter and soda, stir quickly, it will foam up but then can be stirred down a bit and pour over popped corn.  Stir quickly to coat all corn, pour out onto a buttered pan or onto buttered wax paper, spread evenly and set aside to cool.  I can never leave it alone until it cools, have to keep tasting!  WARNING-this stuff is highly addictive!  But so easy and great for these cool evenings with your family!

WOW!

Well, I'm not sure what has happened to almost a year...but I'm jumping back on!  I have been busy sewing, quilting, cooking, camping and the best thing, spending time with my family!  Now I'm trying to recoup from the frenzy of Christmas!  It was wonderful!  Had the first "Camp Nana!"  8 grands here for 2 days and nights, lots of fun cousin time and Nana tried to make some fun food, but mostly we just tried to hang out together.

I made most of the Grands Christmas gifts, I decided this was the year for change...

One thing they each recieved was a new pillow!  Each one was made special for each child,  a theme of interest to them!  There were, sports, horses, flowers, dogs, JD, etc!

Happy 2012 to everyone!  May you & yours be blessed with health, happiness, and prosperity for the coming year!
